Celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day at ODA

February 7 marked a significant occasion in the world of sports as National Girls and Women in Sports Day is celebrated across the nation. This day not only recognizes the outstanding achievements of female athletes but also highlights the progress made in the pursuit of equality in sports.

At ODA, this day mirrors our efforts to champion and empower female athletes, leaders and coaches, as we live by the following convictions:

Through participation in sports, female students at ODA develop invaluable skills such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance, laying the foundation for future success both on and off the field.

By recruiting and elevating our female coaches, ODA promotes the values of leadership, resilience, and self-confidence in our players regardless of their chosen sport.

By empowering and celebrating our female athletes, we shape confident and capable leaders who will undoubtedly leave their mark on the world.

Living out this philosophy has propelled our female sports teams to great heights. To highlight a few examples from this school year alone:
  • GOLF: In the fall, our girls golf team was the district back-to-back champion and runner up in the Sunshine State Athletics Association (SSAA) tournament
  • SWIMMING: Earlier this year, our girls swim team earned the title of district champions for the first time in school history
  • SOCCER: Our girls soccer team just won back-to-back SSAA championships after posting an undefeated regular season
  • BASKETBALL: Under the guidance of our dedicated coaches, our girls basketball program has been rebuilt to have a modified varsity schedule and a renewed commitment to district play in the 2024-25 season.
Out-of-Door celebrates the achievements of the past, the accomplishments of the present, and the limitless potential of the future for ODA’s female athletes.
