In 1924, our founders, Fanneal Harrison and Catherine Gavin, sought to establish a uniquely progressive school committed to high academic standards and to nourishing the minds, bodies, and spirits of children. Eighty-five years later, we remain inspired by their vision.
From PreK through 12th grade, we are passionate about educating the whole child through a rigorous balance of academics, athletics, arts, and character development. We value a strong partnership with our parent community and, together, prepare our students to meet life's challenges with knowledge, integrity, courage, and poise so that they, in turn, can make a difference in the world.
As an independent, college preparatory school, our mission is to provide an environment in which students strive to achieve their highest academic goals and to build character through a balanced program of academics, athletics, and the arts. While words and pictures can provide an exciting glimpse of Out-of-Door and the school experience, ultimately we are about relationships and community. We encourage you to visit our campuses, meet our students and teachers, and see our comprehensive program in action first-hand.
