Individual tours are welcomed and encouraged. Please contact the Admissions Office at (941)554-3400 to schedule a visit.
Thank you for your interest in The Out-of-Door Academy. We are pleased that you are considering our school for your child's education. To facilitate the admission process we recommend that you follow the guidelines listed below. These steps are important and necessary in expediting our admission decision.
- Tour and Visit: Prospective students and families are invited to visit and experience the Out-of-Door campuses and see the
students, faculty, and curriculum in action. Tours for local families are scheduled during the week. Please call the Admissions Office to schedule a personal tour.
- Application/Application Fee: Complete and return the Application for Admission, a recent photograph (optional), and the appropriate questionnaires along with the $100.00 application fee. The admission process for PreKindergarten and Kindergarten applicants must be completed by February 5, 2010, for an applicant's file to be considered for the February 15, 2010, notification date. All other applicants applying for grades 1 through 12 must complete the application process by March 5, 2010, in order for an applicant's file to be considered for the March 15, 2010, notification date. Applications received after the deadlines will be handled on a rolling admissions basis, pending space availability.
- Confidential Teacher Recommendations/Release of Information: Complete the applicable forms and send/give to your child's current school. These forms should be completed in early January and mailed directly back to The Out-of-Door Academy Admissions Office by the applicant's current school.
- Testing, Classroom Visitation, and Interview:
Applicants for PreKindergarten and Kindergarten: A representative from the Admissions Office will contact all PreKindergarten and Kindergarten applicants to schedule the Individual and Group Assessments. Please note the following dates:

Because admission to The Out-of-Door Academy's PreKindergarten and Kindergarten programs is based primarily on individual, developmental readiness, the School recommends applicants for PreKindergarten turn four (4) and applicants for Kindergarten turn five (5) by September 1 of their entry year.
Applicants for Grades 1-6: After submitting the completed application materials, please call to schedule your child's testing and a classroom visitation date.
Applicants for Grades 7-12: After submitting the completed application materials, please call to schedule a school visit and student interview.
- Register to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) online at www.ssat.org. (Important: indicate The Out-of-Door Academy [school code - 5611] as a recipient school to ensure that the score reports are received in a timely manner.) SSAT registration materials are also available from the Admissions Office. If the applicant has recently taken the ISEE, SAT, or PSAT, these test results may be considered in place of the SSAT scores.

- Decision Process: Notification of PreKindergarten and Kindergarten decisions will be mailed on February 15, 2010. Notification of decision for Grades 1 through 12 will be mailed on March 12, 2010. Upon acceptance, students will be sent an acceptance packet and the enrollment agreement.

January 12, 2010 - Private School Fair, Lakewood Ranch Town Hall, 8175 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., Bradenton, FL. (5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.)
October 12, November 14, & December 12, 2009, and January 9 and February 6, 2010 - Required SSAT dates for students who would like to be considered for the March 12, 2010 notification date.
