Student-Athlete of the Week


November 9-14

Under the guidance of Coach Joe Runge, 8th grader Peter Runge has had an outstanding cross country season this fall. After a 6th place overall finish in the District Championship meet, Peter cam in 13th place in the Regional Meet held in Largo on Friday, November 13th and earned a spot to compete at the FHSAA State Championship Meet in Dade City on Saturday, November 21st.


October 5-10
Congratulations to senior Varsity Football team member A.J. Strong whose effort on Friday, October 9 led to a 39-28 Thunder victory over the #2-ranked team in the state, Evangelical Christian School, at Twin Lakes Park. A.J., who plays running back and defensive back, posted 275 all-purpose yards and scored four touchdowns in a monumental victory that positions Out-of-Door in a tie for first place in Class 1B, District 6 standings. A.J. serves as a football team co-captain and is also a standout performer for the defending district champion Thunder Baseball team.

September 29 - October 3
Congratulations to junior Cross Country team member Michelle Van Dalen '11 who medaled in the Lemon Bay Invitational on Saturday, October 3. Michelle finished in 15th place among a field of over 200 participants and recorded the best individual time for all female runners representing Class 1A and 2A schools. In addition to cross country, she is a member of the Varsity Soccer and Tennis teams. During the 2008-09 spring season, Michelle won individual district and regional championships for the Lady Thunder Tennis team.

September 21-26
Congratulations to senior varsity volleyball team mbmer Jonna Marchese, whose outstanding performance was an important part of Out-of-Door's victory on Thursday, September 24 against district foe Admiral Farragut Academy. Jonna has been a member of the varsity team for four years. She was a part of the 2006-07 District Runner-up and 2007-08 District Championship teams. Jonna (S/OH) is considered the team's most proficient setter and possesses powerful spiking skills. Congratulations to Coach Julio Cruz and the Lady Thunder volleyball team for a job well done!

September 14-19
Congratulations to senior varsity swim team members and co-captains Cayman Bone and Anika Pack whose outstanding performances were an important part of Out-of-Door’s victory against North Port High School at Oyster Creek Aquatic Center. Anika (left) captured first place in the 500 meter freestyle. Cayman (middle) captured first place finishes in both the 100 meter freestyle and 100 meter backstroke. Congratulations to Coach Keber and Coach Kozak (right) and the varsity swimming team for a job well done!
