Since 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized the vision, ingenuity, and talent of our nation's youth, and provided opportunities for creative teens to be celebrated.
On March 2nd, students in Out-of-Door's AP Language course visited Emma E. Booker Elementary School to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday and to participate in the National Read Across America Day. Prior to the visit to Booker, students read, "On Compassion" by Barbara Lazear Ascher.
On February 20, 2016, 24 students from Out-of-Door Academy joined hundreds of students from the region at this year's Florida Junior Classical League (FJCL) Latin Competition hosted by Plant City High School in Plant City, Florida.
‚ÄčLast school year, the English Department at Out-of-Door created The Declamation Program for students in grades 9th-12th. This program was created in part to strengthen the student's public speaking skills. Only in its second year of the program, teachers have noticed a considerable improvement with assignments.
This year, The Out-of-Door Academy organized a team to participate in the regional competition of the Florida Science Olympiad. Science Olympiad is a competition for elementary, middle, and high school students and teams are comprised of up to 15 students, led by one teacher, who compete in 23 different events.
