One of the things that makes The Out-of-Door Academy so special is our volunteers. Across all our campuses, they help strengthen our community by supporting academics, the arts, athletics, and the many traditions and experiences that make ODA unique.

Whether you have a few hours a year or a few hours each week, there's a place for you to get involved. Some volunteer opportunities offer leadership roles for parents who want to help plan and guide initiatives throughout the year, while others are flexible, event-based opportunities for those who simply want to lend a hand when they can. Every role matters, and every contribution helps create the welcoming, connected community that defines the ODA experience.

Community Event Board

The Community Event Board supports school-wide community engagement by planning and executing large-scale parent and community events, including Thunder Fun Day and Parent Luncheon. This group exists to strengthen community connection, support school culture, and create meaningful engagement opportunities for ODA families.

Signature events include Thunder Fun Day and Parent Luncheon.

Division Liaisons

Division Liaisons support division-specific programming, family engagement, volunteer coordination, and community communication across their assigned school division.

Grade Level Parents

Lower School Grade Level Parents are responsible for the classroom-level family engagement and communication, while strengthening relationships among classroom families, educators and the school community. Grade Level Parent designees will report to the Parent Division Liaison President and Vice President.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Thunder Athletic Club

The mission of the Thunder Athletic Club (TAC) is to foster a positive environment for all ODA student-athletes, coaches, and parents. TAC partners with the athletics department to enhance the overall athletic experience by encouraging school spirit, increasing attendance at events, and supporting the needs of athletic programs.

Signature events include the Golf Tournament, ODA 5K & Kids Fun Run, and Thunder ESPY Awards.

Arts Alliance

The mission of the Arts Alliance is to support the students, educators, and families of ODA’s visual and performing arts programs in their goal to achieve the highest standards of arts education and performance. The Arts Alliance also aims to promote the place and value of the arts in the community, and highlight the significant role the visual and performing arts play in the lives of our students.

Signature events include All in for the Arts, Festival of the Arts and The Oscars.

Corporate Champions Committee

Members of this committee partner with the ODA Advancement team support corporate partnership development, stewardship, and community engagement. Revenue generated through Corporate Champions supports volunteer and community programming across designated ODA parent groups.

ODA Annual Fund Committee

The ODA Annual Fund Committee serves as a team of parent ambassadors who champion philanthropy through peer-to-peer outreach, advocacy, and community engagement. Committee members help educate fellow parents about the importance of the Annual Fund and inspire participation by sharing their own commitment to giving. Because the Annual Fund supports ODA's operating budget and enhances every student's experience, volunteer leadership plays a vital role in building a culture of philanthropy across our community.
