Opening Our Campuses for the 2020-21 School Year

When our students come back to campus, they will see many new visual reminders that attending school this year will be quite a bit different. Watch this short video created by a team of sixth grade teachers to learn more about our new campus protocols. We look forward to seeing many of you next week as all of our grade levels return to the Siesta Key and Uihlein Campuses following the Labor Day weekend.
Both campuses have implemented many new health and sanitizing protocols to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. Clearly marked signage indicates foot traffic patterns, physical distancing markers, face covering reminders, and more.

What they will also see is how genuinely excited the faculty and staff are to have students filling the campus with their youthful exuberance again. From the outset of the pandemic, teachers' most common lament has been how much they missed working face-to-face with their students. Teachers are always excited to return from summer break, but this year they are elated to see students’ smiling faces both on screen and in person as we continue our methodical, phased-in opening.

After a quick temperature check upon arrival, students will head to their homerooms at the Lower School or meet up with their advisory groups on the Uihlein Campus. Teachers will explain all of the new safety protocols, and Middle and Upper school students will take a guided walking tour of the campus to learn new foot traffic patterns. Afterwards, students will complete an amended day of classes.

Interim Head of Upper School Mr. Sean Ball sees the positive opportunities posed by the new rules on campus. “This is a great opportunity for all of our students to be good role models and demonstrate their leadership skills. By following these guidelines, they will put others before themselves and showcase our core value of Responsibility to our whole community.”
