Honoring our Veterans

Out-of-Door students honor their veteran families and friends during special assemblies at both campuses. Visit our photo album of the Veterans Day assemblies.
On the Siesta Key Campus, veteran guests were honored by our students who performed a medley of military songs, including “Pack Up Your Troubles” and “Grand Old Flag.” They also showed their gratitude to military members stationed abroad by presenting a donation of Halloween candy to be delivered to the troops by the Manasota Operation Troop Support (MOTS), an organization that supplies comfort items and treats to active duty military members.

At the Uihlein Campus, Middle and Upper School students welcomed guest speakers–Sergeant James Bearden, Lieutenant Colonel Wayne Davis (Ret.), Sergeant Sharon Fahler, and Specialist Nate Hicks–in addition to many honored veteran friends and family members, into the Petrik Thunderdome for their assemblies. Each veteran spoke about their experience serving our country, sharing stories and experiences with the assembled students. The speakers talked about the importance of Veterans Day, and how they show their respect for those who have served on this special day. After the assembly, the veterans visited several classrooms and spoke with smaller groups in Q&A breakout sessions.

November is a time to give thanks to those who have served in our country's Armed Forces. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to host our honored guests and thank them for their service to our country.
