Why should I attend?
By attending, you are supporting The Out-of-Door Academy and our students, faculty and staff. Funds raised by the Banyan Ball/Bash are used to support existing programs such as faculty professional development, technology, athletics, the arts and facility enhancements. Additionally, proceeds from the event help grow our endowment and help to support the tuition assistance program.
How will this event be different from past events?
The Banyan Ball/Bash is designed to be an opportunity to enjoy mingling and catching up with Out-of Door friends and families while at the same time raising funds for our school.
What is the difference between the Banyan Ball and the Banyan Bash?
The Banyan Ball is a formal event held every so often to celebrate big achievements in the life of the school. The last Banyan Ball was held in 2015 to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of The Out-of-Door Academy. Held more regularly, the Banyan Bash is a more relaxed version of the Ball. Leave your tux at home for the Bash and join your friends to celebrate and support ODA!
What is the suggested attire for The Banyan Bash? The Banyan Ball?
Banyan Bash suggested attire: Ladies - Cocktail dresses/pant suits and sensible shoes for your comfort on the lawn. Gentlemen - Dress slacks, jackets, no tie required. Please, no denim.
Banyan Ball suggested attire: Ladies - formal evening wear and sensible shoes for your comfort on the lawn. Gentlemen - Black Tie.

Sponsorship is a great way to advertise your business, while providing the necessary underwriting needed for the event. We also would like for you to consider donating a unique auction item, examples may include a case of wine, your second home or gift certificates to local merchants to top off one of our auction items. Can I bid more than the bidding increments? Yes. The bidding increment is the lowest amount that you can increase the bid. You may bid any whole dollar amount over that amount.
Do I have to include dollar signs or decimals? No. All bids and donations should be made in whole dollar with no decimals and no dollar sign.
How do I know if I have been outbid? You will receive a text message alerting you that you have been outbid. You can also visit your ‘My Activity’ page online to view the status of the items that you have bid on, the items that you are watching and any donations that you have made.
How do I purchase an InstaBuy Item? Select ‘InstaBuy’ from the menu and find the item you wish to purchase. Click the BUY button, enter the quantity you wish to purchase and press ‘BUY’.
How do I make a donation?
Select the ‘Donate’ button and either select the amount you wish to donate or enter an amount in whole dollars and press ‘Submit Donation’.
How do I set up a Max Bid (Automated Bidding)?
Click the item you want to bid, Click the BDI button, enter your max bid in the MAX BID box and click SUBMIT MAX BID. The system will automatically bid for you until you win or your max is met!
How will I know if I won?
You will be alerted via text message if you have the winning bids on an item. If you did not attend the event, your card on file will be charged and a staff from Out-of-Door will contact you regarding item retrieval.
