Over 90 Years of History
1924: School Founded by Fanneal Harrison and Catherine Gavin
Sarasota's Siesta Key provided the ideal location to promote the total well being of children. With its miles of uninhabited beaches, enchanting wooded acres, and the clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico, it was seen as a pristine paradise well suited to molding all aspects of a child's development.
In 1924, The Out-of-Door Academy's founders, Fanneal Harrison and Catherine Gavin, sought to establish a uniquely progressive school committed to high academic standards and to nourishing the minds, bodies and spirits of children. Over 90 years later, Out-of-Door remains inspired by their vision.
