Letter from the Head of School

Welcome to The Out-of-Door Academy

Since 1924, The Out-of-Door Academy has offered an innovative program focused on educating the whole child in a caring and supportive community. Our founders believed that fresh air, physical activity, and the arts would promote student wellness and a higher level of academic achievement. Today, an Out-of-Door education is defined by the pursuit of excellence and a commitment to build character through a balanced program of academics, the arts and athletics. Our core values of Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence and Responsibility are the foundation of our school community.

At Out-of-Door, we always frame decisions based upon what we believe is in the best interest of our students. From pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, we provide a safe, student-centered, educational environment that is defined by a robust, rigorous, and innovative curriculum, state-of-the-art technology, and excellent teaching. Our dedicated and talented faculty is comprised of expert educators who love children and are focused on the personal growth and success of every young person in their care. We believe in providing meaningful challenges and learning opportunities in the classroom, on the athletic field, on the stage, and in the community. A strong partnership exists with our families who volunteer their time, talent, and resources to enhance the educational environment on campus and strengthen the bonds across our entire school family.

The Out-of-Door Academy is an academic community committed to providing an exceptional educational foundation and to instilling a passion for lifelong learning for every student we serve. We want to empower every ODA graduate to confront the challenges of college and life in a rapidly changing, complex and interdependent world with character, expertise, confidence, and resolve. I hope our website will introduce you to the people and programs that make Out-of-Door such a unique and special school. If you value the transformational power of education, I encourage you to visit campus where you will meet the Out-of-Door family and experience our pre-kindergarten – 12 program in action.
