5th Grade Visits The Florida House Institute

Fifth grade visits the Florida House Institute as they begin their unit on Renewable Energies in STEM class.
Fifth grade students have started the Renewable Energies unit in STEM class, where they will dig deep into sustainability. Students will design and create Science Discovery Learning Centers for all of the students at the Lower Campus to learn from. As part of this unit, the students attended a field trip to the Florida House Institute. This great opportunity directly correlates the content being studied in STEM. At the Florida House, students learned about the six different kinds of energy, used tools to build sustainable book shelves, learned about solar powered cars, fixed a water emergency, explored a sustainable garden (and tried some tasty treats,) used their own bodies to create energy to power a generator, and designed their own circuits.
