The Upper School Thunder Cup challenge began in 2006. The competition runs throughout the school year as grade level teams compete in a wide variety of activities to earn points towards the coveted Thunder Cup Championship.
Throughout the history of the event, seniors have won ten times, juniors have finished first two times, and the sophomores have championed once. The most impressive performance has been the Class of 2015, who won three years in a row, in 2013, 2014, and 2015.
On August 22, ODA Upper School students showed their school spirit during the exciting opening games of the 2018-19 Thunder Cup in the Petrik Thunderdome. The event began with the Thunder Cheerleaders who showcased their athleticism and choreography while getting the crowd into the spirit of the competition. All four of the classes put in stellar performances in the three events which included the ODA classic Hanky-Panky, Team Trivia, and Musical Dots. The underclassmen put up a good fight, but the seniors took an early lead in the ongoing competition that will culminate on Spirit Day on April 12.
