Talented ODA Musicians Perform with the Pros
The Out-of-Door Academy has had a strong representation on the Sarasota Youth Orchestra (SYO), Symphonic Winds, and Youth Opera Programs for many years. The SYO’s program has been hailed as one of the most exemplary youth programs in the Southeast. Each year, ODA students are encouraged to take advantage of amazing opportunities with these programs -located in the heart of our city.
The nationally acclaimed artistic staff, conductors, directors, and coaches have created a learning experience for the young musician that is unparalleled in our community. Musicians in grades 3-12 are placed in one of the seven orchestras for a 30-week season to expand their skills and musicianship.
As a member of the SYO, Arthur Wang ‘21 recently performed in the “Thrill of a Lifetime” concert at the Neel Performing Arts Center in Bradenton. This concert gave SYO members the opportunity to perform side-by-side with the Sarasota Orchestra professionals. The musicians performed original works by both Tchaikovsky and Dovorak and were conducted by Anthony Hose and Rob Lambert.
