Alumni Spotlight: Evan Wilson ‘13

His fondest memories are in the athletic realm where he was on several very successful football teams and one basketball team that was “seemingly adverse to victory.” Both athletic teams hold a special place in his heart and are a source of many fond memories.

Evan is an alumnus with a deep respect for the natural environment around him. After taking a ‘fun summer job’ in Alaska one summer during college, Evan discovered a passion for the state and its people. He spent many summers in Alaska and it began to feel like home to him. This past summer he worked as a boat captain providing access to a backcountry lodge on Skilak Lake, just outside of Cooper Landing.
 
Evan is now working at a winery in the Willamette Valley in Oregon and thinking about what comes next. He has found that he thoroughly enjoys working outside in the fresh mountain air and ending his day with a warm, hearty meal surrounded by friends. Evan has found that “there is much life to be lived outside of offices and far far away from the nearest computer screen.”

Will this be his future? He doesn’t know yet, but while he is young, Evan is taking advantage of every opportunity that interests him and absorbing as much knowledge and experience as he can along the way - and who knows where that will lead him!
