Out-of-Door Hosts 9th Annual Tampa Bay Case Studies Program

The Out-of-Door Academy proudly hosted the 9th Annual Tampa Bay Case Studies Program at the Uihlein Campus in Lakewood Ranch. The program was developed by a team comprised of members from seven independent schools: ODA, Academy of the Holy Names, Berkeley Preparatory School, Canterbury School, Shorecrest Preparatory School, Saint Stephen’s Episcopal School, and Tampa Preparatory School. The event offers an exclusive opportunity to see how admission decisions are made and to gain valuable insight into this complex process from experts in the field.

Prior to attending the program, participants received three mock application files to read and evaluate in preparation. More than 70 seasoned admissions professionals from colleges and universities across the country were present to moderate the case studies portion of the program. With the guidance of these representatives, each small group was responsible for reaching a consensus vote to admit, waitlist, or deny each of the three applicants. To cap off the day, families were invited to attend a private college fair in the Fox Field House and were given the opportunity to meet with the college and university representatives in attendance. This behind-the-scenes look at the college admissions process offers students profound insight on how admissions decisions are made. Attendees left with a better understanding of how they can position themselves best with their college applications.
