RUNNER OF THE YEAR FINALISTS

Shane Kilduff, Sarasota High, senior

Finished 41st at the Class 4A state meet in a personal best time of 16 minutes, 23 seconds.

Tristan McWilliam, Out-of-Door Academy, sophomore

Finished seventh at the Class 1A state meet in a time of 16 minutes, 17 seconds. Set a personal best of 16:05 at the North Port Invitational, finishing first. He also won the 1A-District 6 meet in 16:39 and the Canes Cross Country Classic in 16:39.

Alberto Teijelo, Venice High, junior

Finished 54th at the Class 4A state meet in a time of 16 minutes, 30 seconds. Set a personal best of 16:15 in the 4A-Region 2 meet.

 

COACH OF THE YEAR

John Stevenson, Sarasota High

Guided the Sailors to a ninth-place finish in the Class 4A state meet. Sarasota was the 4A-Region 2 runner-up and also finished second in the 4A-District 4 meet.

 

FIRST TEAM

Collin Butzow, Palmetto High, sophomore

Finished 42nd at the Class 3A state meet in a time of 16 minutes, 50 seconds. Set a personal best of 16:37 at the North Port Invitational.

Orlando Cicilioni, Sarasota High, junior

Finished 44th at the Class 4A state meet in a time of 16 minutes, 24 seconds. Set a personal best of 16:19 at the 4A-Region 2 meet.

Matthew Finck, Lemon Bay High, sophomore

Finished 69th at the Class 2A state meet in a personal-best time of 17 minutes, 26 seconds.

Paul Lespasio, Manatee High, sophomore

Finished 69th at the Class 4A state meet in a time of 16 minutes, 44 seconds. Set a personal best of 16:21 at the 4A-Region 2 meet.

Joseph Smith, North Port High, junior

Finished 110th at the Class 4A state meet in a time of 17 minutes, 5 seconds. Set a personal best of 17:04 at the North Port Invitational.

 

Michael Thomas, Saint Stephen’s Episcopal, sophomore

Finished 36th at the Class 1A state meet in a time of 17 minutes, 28 seconds. Set a personal-best 17:24 at the 1A-Region 3 meet.

Tyler Wadsworth, Port Charlotte High, sophomore

Finished 26th at the Class 3A-Region 3 meet in a time of 17 minutes, 36 seconds. Set a personal best of 16:30 at the Disney Cross Country Classic. Won the 7th Annual Tri-County Classic in a time of 16 minutes, 53 seconds. Won the 3A-District 6 title in 16:32.
