Senior Nolan Lewellen led the Thunder (2-4) to the victory in the semifinal round of the Sunshine State Athletic Conference Class A playoffs.
“Nolan just kept making play after play,” Out-of-Door-Academy football coach K.B. Belton said. “After a horse-collar tackle, he had some knee issues. On his first play back in the game he still caught a pass on 4th-and-30 and took it for a touchdown.
“He’s got some schools looking at him. This is a great way to showcase his talent.”
Junior Grady Paxton ran for 100 yards and scored a touchdown for the Thunder. ODA will play for the SSAC Class A state title next Saturday at Bryant Stadium in Lakeland.
