Spirit Day 2021: A New Twist on a Great ODA Tradition
Although this year’s Spirit Day looked a little bit different than prior years, the level of enthusiasm and excitement was as strong as ever. This year students competed by division on the Siesta Key and Uihlein Campuses. One of Out-of-Door's oldest school traditions, the day was filled with games, camaraderie, and friendly competition for every student from pre-K to our soon-to-graduate senior Class of 2021. Throughout the week, students at the Uihlein Campus showed their spirit with themed dress-up days. Spirit Day festivities began with our annual service project collecting peanut butter and jelly to benefit The Food Bank of Manatee. With the events of the past year impacting local food banks, students donated a jar of each as a desire to assist with those struggling in our community.
Students then broke into grade level "Olympic-style" competitions including events such as the balloon toss, kickball, and water games. While blue and white weren’t tallied in every division, the Uihlein Campus finale was the senior obstacle course – a fierce competition among our student-athletes. At the close of the event, there was an incredible sense of togetherness and an overall celebration of sportsmanship among all of our students.
