The days leading up to Homecoming Weekend were filled with exciting activities on the Uihlein Campus. Students and faculty got into the Homecoming spirit with themed dress-up days, including College Day and Western Wear for Upper Schoolers and Cozy Day and Formal Day for Middle Schoolers. The annual Thunder Cup mattress race in the quad was won by the seniors this year, and students on both campuses dressed up in ODA blue and white for "School Spirit Day" on Friday in preparation for the big game.
In Petrik Thunderdome, ODA cheerleaders hyped up their classmates, opening the Homecoming Pep Rally with a well-synchronized routine complete with handsprings, flips, and an impressive pyramid. Mr. Brewer led the cheer contest with the help of class reps and the cheerleaders, and the Varsity football players and Thor came out to pump up the student body for Friday night's game and Saturday's "Enchanted Forest" themed Homecoming dance.
The family picnic held in the Wood Family Amphitheater and the Pavilion was great fun for the whole family! There were huge bounce houses and inflatables, talented face painters, glitter tattoos, and a delicious tailgate-style dinner. It was wonderful to watch alumni, current families, and faculty reconnect while enjoying all the picnic had to offer! Later, as the crowd moved into Thunder Stadium for the game, it was incredible to see–and hear–the stands filled with hundreds of ODA fans and families dressed in blue and white cheering on the Thunder!
