ODA Honors our Veterans
Out-of-Door paid homage to veterans and their families during a meaningful Veterans Day event on the Siesta Key Campus. View our photo album and a video of the Veterans Day assembly featuring clips submitted by students whose family members could not attend in person.
Each November, Out-of-Door Lower School students hold a special assembly to honor their veteran family members and friends. On Thursday, November 11, Mrs. Jessica Banks welcomed more than two dozen special guests to the Veterans Day Assembly, held in the Kozel Family Amphitheater. Each branch of the U.S. military was proudly represented–Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard.
Students enthusiastically sang classic military songs to the veterans, including “Salute to the Armed Forces,” “Chester in the Army,” and “America the Beautiful.” They also showed their gratitude to military members stationed abroad by presenting a gift of donated candy (collected from their trick-or-treating adventures and beyond) to Manasota Operation Troop Support, a local organization that supplies active duty military members with items to make life away from home more manageable.
We honor and show respect to those who have served in our Armed Forces. ODA is proud to have had the opportunity to host our esteemed guests and thank them for their service to our country.
