Arts Philosophy

Our commitment to arts as an integral part of our educational philosophy can be found in every grade from pre-kindergarten to grade 12. The cumulative design of each program ensures that students develop a deep understanding of the importance of the visual and performing arts.
Our students excel to perform and compete at the highest level, regularly participating in regional and state competitions and juried exhibits. Students are inspired and challenged to develop at their own pace and partner with classmates in order to create an atmosphere of cooperative learning. Art, drama, and music pieces and projects are chosen for their expressive and technical qualities, as well as for their relationship to the academic curriculum. Multicultural understanding is emphasized through the music and art of various cultures.

Whether a student’s goal is to become an art scholar, a practicing artist, or to use art as a creative outlet, courses in visual and performing arts provide a solid foundation in critical thinking and creative skills for life. Performances and exhibits at every level instill a sense of pride and ownership for students and give the community an opportunity to enjoy our students’ work.
