The Out-of-Door Academy has been named a 2024 STEM School of Excellence by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association (ITEEA), recognizing our dedication to innovation, collaboration, and real-world problem-solving. Fueled by dynamic partnerships, ODA’s STEM program spans engineering, robotics, computer science, and natural sciences, preparing students to meet future challenges with creativity and confidence.
Esports and Robotics: Innovating for Success
ODA’s Esports program has quickly become a national leader, featuring a state-of-the-art arena and successful Middle and Upper School teams, including a Middle School national championship in 3v3 Rocket League. Meanwhile, the robotics program provides hands-on experiences in VEX Robotics and drone technology, solidifying ODA’s position as a regional STEM leader.

Research, Partnerships, and Environmental Impact
ODA integrates advanced technology like a Scanning Electron Microscope, provided by Hitachi, into its curriculum and extracurriculars. Partnerships with organizations like Mote Marine Laboratory and the Amazon Future Engineer program connect students with real-world applications, from marine restoration to environmental stewardship. Initiatives like the STEM Day of Service encourage students to engage in activities like vertical oyster garden installations and water-quality monitoring, fostering a culture of responsibility and innovation.
From award-winning teams to cutting-edge research and environmental initiatives, ODA inspires a new generation of innovators ready to lead and create meaningful change. For more information, please contact Ms. Caitlyn Dixon, Director of STEM.
